To foster creativity and innovation appropriate adaptation of IPR is a must. IPR plays a very important role for economic development growth, employment generation and globalization of trade and commerce of a country. Emerging economies like Bangladesh which wishes to continue its growth as a middle income country must adopt appropriate IPR policies and mechanism to foster creativity and innovation, to conform to the evolving technological developments, to generate new employment, and for driving continuous economic growth.

Bangladesh despite being a member of number of international IP conventions or treaties and having all the relevant IPR laws in place, is yet to experience an uplift in IPR awareness, capacity building and IPR enforcement.

Digital Bangladesh is a reality now, and to make the most out of this reality, it is the high time that we embrace IPR appropriately, adopt strategies to collaborate with partners and stakeholders to achieve the IPR goals, adopt fresher IPR policies and laws, build capacity among stakeholders and create mass IPR awareness within Bangladesh.

At the seminar "Approaching IPR in Digital Bangladesh" on the occasion of Digital World 2017, we look forward to discuss and bolster the pressing needs, opportunities and challenges of the IPR regime in Bangladesh with the aim to find the appropriate way forward.
